Museum Total Project Cost: $91,107.00 Amount Requested: $35,000.00 LCHIP Funded: $35,240.00 Project Description: Following a building condition assessment in 2003, the AHS Museum restoration project was planned to include replacing water damaged flooring and installing UV protection on the 1st floor; installing a new furnace dehumidifier; and installing modern wiring for exhibition lights. Restoration of the floor has been delayed due to use of the 1st floor of the museum for storage of furniture donated for Alstead Floor relief. The project will resume in April 2006. The museum houses an extensive collection of local artifact, newspapers, letters, diaries, and photographs representative of rural life in a New Hampshire hill town.

Town: Chesterfield Project Name: California Brook Phase II Total Project Cost: $580,000.00 Amount Requested: $250,000.00 LCHIP Funded: $250,000.00 Project Description: In 2006, the Monadnock Conservancy will complete the protection of nearly 1,000 acres of land in the highly significant California Brook watershed in Swanzey, Keene, and Chesterfield. The first phase was funded in part with an LCHIP grant of $150,000. In Phase II, slated for 2007, the Conservancy will have the opportunity to protect an additional 800-1,000 acres through purchase and donation of conservation easements, completing the contiguous gateway from Keene to Pisgah Park. Town: Hinsdale Project Name: Ebenezar Hinsdale Farm Total Project Cost: $950,000.00 Amount Requested: $475,000.00 LCHIP Funded: $215,000.00 Project Description: Site of Fort Hinsdale, built by Ebenezar Hinsdale, found of the town. 1759 house has been restored to historically appropriate standard, and is proposed as historical society headquarters and museum. 37 acre site is Connecticut River agricultural land (10 acres as fields and 27 acres of woods), to be conserved as public reservation. 37 acres of Connecticut River ag land consisting of approx. 10 acres of fields and 27 acres of woods, with 3000 feet of river frontage. Historic house was built in 1759 on site of Fort Hinsdale by the founder of the town. House is proposed for Hinsdale Historical Society headquarters and museum, with land to be conserved for public access, passive recreation, and wildlife habitat. Target Acres: 37

Town: Keene Project Name: Stone Arched Bridge Total Project Cost: $50,000.00 Amount Requested: $25,000.00 LCHIP Funded: $500.00 Project Description: The railroad line was abandoned in 1972 and there has been no maintenance on the bridge since. It is in dire need of repair because of neglect and misuse. The study will determine what needs to bedone to properly restore the bridge. The local citizens have great affection for the bridge and would like to see it restored for community use. LCHIP received an anonymous donation for $24,500 which will go to this project, the remaining $500 will come from the LCHIP fund at treasury.
